FAQ

The questions owners actually ask us.

Straight answers on cost, setup, what it does on a call, and what happens when it does not know something. If yours is not here, ask it on the call.

Before you read the rest

The three answers everyone wants first.

Most of what people want to know comes down to how fast, how long they are tied in, and what the catch is. So they are up here rather than buried.

48 hours

From kickoff to live

A 15-minute call, then we build and train it. You call the number yourself before a single customer does. Every feature on, not a trial version.

Month to month

Cancel anytime

No long contract to sign and nothing to get out of. We would rather you stay because it is working than because you are trapped.

No setup fees

Nothing up front

The build, the training and the testing are part of the service. Pricing is scoped to your shop on the call, not guessed at from a web page.

Straight answers

The questions that decide it.

No hedging and no sales language. If the honest answer is that it does not fit your shop, that is what it says.

What it costs and how it starts

What does it cost?

Your price comes down to two things: how many calls you get and how you want them handled. We scope it on the 15-minute call, so you leave with a real number rather than a range to decode. Month to month, no setup fees, cancel anytime.

Is it a flat monthly price, or do I pay by the minute?

Flat. One monthly price, agreed on the call and shown at checkout, and it does not move with your call count. A busy month is not a bigger bill, and neither is your whole busy season. No per-minute meter, no overage, no surcharges. If your business grows into a genuinely bigger operation over time, we scope the price together then, and you get 30 days notice before any change with the option to cancel first.

How long does setup take?

48 hours from kickoff, live end-to-end with every feature on, text notifications included. We do a 15-minute discovery call, then you fill out a short onboarding form so we have your services, your hours, your pricing rules and the things you never want promised. Then we build and train the receptionist on your line. We test it ourselves first, then the number is yours to call as often as you want, exactly the way a customer would. Your calls only forward when you say go.

Do I keep my current phone number?

Yes, and you never hand it over. Your number stays with your carrier, in your name, on your account. You forward it to the receptionist line, and that forward is a setting you control, so you can point calls back to your own phone yourself, any time you want. No porting and no carrier contract changes. Or if you would rather leave your existing line completely alone and publish the new number instead, that works just as well. Which way you go is entirely your call.

What it does on a real call

Does it actually book jobs, or just take a message?

Willison books. It qualifies the caller, offers your real open times, and puts the job straight on the calendar you already use, then confirms with the caller and texts you the details. Urgent work gets offered your soonest slot rather than the next convenient one. The only calls it will not book on its own are emergencies and escalations, and those go to your contact instead, by text or live transfer, whichever you set.

Is this just an answering service?

No. Answering every call is the front door. Willison also works the calls most shops let slip: leads that never connected, and quotes still sitting without an answer. You get one point of contact for all of it, and every month a plain-English read on what your phone is actually doing for the business. That fuller picture is Front Desk Intelligence.

Will it sound like a robot?

No. It sounds like a person, and most callers take it as one. If someone asks outright, it tells them. We pick a voice that fits your brand and run real calls at it before a customer ever hears it. Anyone who would rather deal with a person goes to your escalation contact, either as a callback text or a live transfer, whichever you have set up.

What if it cannot answer something?

It can answer what your callers actually ask, because it is trained on your business rather than a generic script: your services, your areas, your hours, how you price, and the things you never want promised. What it will not do is guess. Emergencies, escalations and anything genuinely unusual go to you or your crew instead, by text or live transfer, whichever you set. Either way, no caller gets dead-ended into voicemail.

What happens on an emergency call after hours?

Beyond the ones your trade already treats as an emergency, you decide what else counts in your shop when we set it up. Willison recognizes those calls, takes the full details, and sends them to your contact right away rather than dropping the caller into the next open slot. If you would rather a phone actually rang, you give us the number to reach at setup and we ring it. What it will not do is promise an arrival time or try to diagnose anything down the phone.

How do I know it is working?

Every booking goes to whoever you choose the moment it happens, with the caller, the job and the time, and it lands on your calendar at the same time. The urgent ones are flagged so they stand out from a routine tune-up. Then at the end of every month you get a plain-English read on what your phone actually did: calls answered and jobs booked, valued off the average job number you gave us at setup, so the math is yours and not ours. One page, nothing to go log into.

What if several calls come in at once?

Every one of them gets answered the moment it lands. Not two, not the first few, all of them. So a storm morning where the phone never stops still has every caller picked up on the first ring. No hold queue, no busy signal, and nobody sent to voicemail because the line was tied up. That is the single biggest difference between this and one very good person on one phone line.

Whether it fits your shop

What if I already have a receptionist?

Keep them. We deploy in backup mode, picking up only when they are on another call, after hours, or when the phone rings unanswered. You are not paying for replacement, you are paying for capture. When and if your receptionist moves on, we flip to full replacement. No contract change.

Does it work with the software I already use?

It books straight to the calendar you already run on, so the job lands where your day already lives. There is no dashboard to learn and nothing for you to configure. It does not write into field service management software today, so if your office runs the schedule out of one, your team still moves the job over the way they do now. Tell us what you run on the call and we will show you exactly how it lands.

Is it built for my trade?

Willison is built around the high-ticket trades that live on the phone, where one missed call is a real job rather than a lost message. The intake is written for the trade, because a no-heat call in January and a burst line at midnight are not the same call. Yours gets built and tested against your own call types before it ever answers a customer. See the trade pages for how that works in practice. For one trade worked out in full, read what an HVAC call runs through, from a gas smell to a tune-up.

Can I hear it before I commit?

Yes. Talk to our live receptionist right now, right in your browser, from the demo on our homepage. Ask it anything a customer would and hear exactly how it answers, handles questions, and books. When you are ready, book a free 15-minute call and we will walk through your real missed-call numbers. No form-fills, no follow-up unless you want one.

One more thing

If the answer is no, we will say no.

Not every shop needs this. If your phone is already covered, or the work does not run through it, the call is fifteen minutes and you leave knowing that for certain. That is a better outcome than a client who signs and then wonders why.

Next step

Ask it on the call.

Fifteen minutes on how your phone runs now, what you are missing, and whether this is worth doing for your shop.

Month-to-month, cancel anytime, no long contract. Every account is reviewed by the founder before it goes live. More about Willison.
